Ronald D. Walker, DDS

Dr. Ronald D. Walker received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1973 from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. Prior to establishing his single practice in the Oro Valley area, which he has kept for nearly 40 years, Dr. Walker was the Chief of Dentistry in St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from 1973-1977. In that time, he participated in breakthrough research into sickle cell disease, a genetic condition of the blood. Dr. Walker cleared more than 3,000 children for surgery at the hospital, allowing them to receive vital treatment.

Throughout his practice, Dr. Walker has focused on all aspects of dentistry in order to better serve his patients. he continually furthers his dental and medical knowledge, and is currently an MD candidate. His broad skillset ensures that he rarely needs to collaborate with other dental specialists to provide the needed treatment. He loves building genuine relationships with his patients, and is very pleased that he now has the chance to treat the children of lifetime patients.

Recent decades have seen incredible advances in dental techniques and technologies which Dr. Walker has heartily embraced. Dental implants allow for the most life-like restoration of missing or compromised teeth to date. He uses advanced CEREC technology to create custom dental crowns and other restorations in less than an hour, a process that used to take several weeks. Dr. Walker also provides comprehensive orthodontic treatment, endodontics (root canal therapy) and reimplantation of avulsed teeth, among many other restorative and family dental services.

Over his career, Dr. Walker has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including being nominated as a Representative for the University of Tennessee at the National Conference of Dental Research in 1972, and the Outstanding Senior Student Award from the American Academy of Oral Pathologists in 1973. His peers continue to recognize his contributions to dentistry and other areas of research. Dr. Walker’s research has been published in many respected dental and medical journals and books.
